Children dead, mother survives after suicide attempt in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A woman jumped into River Kabul taking her two young daughters along with her in an attempted suicide, as a result of which the two daughters died. The woman, however, survived.

According to police, the woman, who belongs to Malakand Agency, attempted suicide as a way of escape from regular domestic quarrels. She was saved by the locals who recovered her from the river but the girls could not be saved.

Speaking with Geo News, the woman, who identified herself as Mahnaz, said that she was married in Malakand Agency and wanted to escape from the daily quarrels with her mother-in-law.

Police handed over the bodies of the dead girls to the father and arrested the woman, who faces charges of murder of her two daughters and attempted suicide.
