PIA privatisation rumours baseless, says chairman

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chairman Mr. Azam Saigol said privatisation of the national carrier was not on the cards, and rumours in this regard were totally baseless.  

The chairman met with the President Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) union of PIA, Mr. Shamim Akmal who conveyed apprehensions of employees regarding privatisation rumours.

Mr. Saigol said in accordance with Parliament’s decision, the Government of Pakistan would retain at least 51 per cent shares and management control of PIA.

President CBA union, Mr Akmal said PIA employees were appreciative of the chairman’s commitment to the revival of the national flag carrier.
