Reply in SC will show Maryam is PM’s dependent, says Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that his reply in the Supreme Court would show that Maryam Nawaz is the dependent of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

On Monday in the Panama Leaks case, the Prime Minister’s children Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz submitted their replies in the Supreme Court.

It was stated in the replies that Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have been living outside Pakistan for 16 and 22 years, respectively. Their father Nawaz Sharif has no involvement in his children’s businesses as well as no connection with properties in London.

Maryam, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are mature, independent adults, the replies stated.

Speaking to journalists, Imran Khan said the prime minister was asking for two more weeks to submit documents which showed he was not ready.  “The government wants to delay the case by adding more people in it,” Khan claimed.

The PTI chairman stressed that the apex court had asked for quick replies as it wants to decide the case without any delay. “The Supreme Court has asked four questions, no commission is needed if they answer them,” Khan said.

The Supreme Court directed Sharif family’s lawyer to submit all documents by November 15 before the next hearing.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said that the Prime Minister’s children’s reply did not deny ownership of offshore companies. He added that the children’s reply accepted the allegations in Imran Khan’s petition related to ownership of the companies.

Justice Khosa directed the Sharif family’s lawyer to convince the court that the money was transferred abroad in accordance with the law.

“It is the duty of the owners to convince the Supreme Court after accepting ownership,” he said.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court has also sought reply from Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen regarding offshore companies till Nov 15.

The petition was submitted by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi stating that both the PTI leaders should be declared ineligible over concealing of offshore companies in documents given to the Election Commission.

The SC issued notices to both the PTI leaders in this regard.
