Three 'terrorists' killed in Karachi shootout with Rangers

KARACHI: Three 'terrorists' were killed and a paramilitary soldier wounded as a 'shootout' took place between Rangers and miscreants in Karachi late on Wednesday, a paramilitary spokesman said.

Rangers personnel conducted a raid in Manghopir area late on Wednesday night, after they were tipped off of terrorists' presence in the vicinity, said a spokesperson for Pakistan Rangers Sindh. The 'terrorists' opened fire on paramilitary personnel as they spotted them and tried to flee away.

Three terrorists were killed in the ensuing shootout. 

The local police were called in after the shootout, who conducted a thorough search of the area and later cleared it.

The paramilitary force identified the terrorists as Muhammed Hussain aka Mistri Pathan and Muhammed Sulaiman Khan aka Sharmila Pathan.

Muhammed Hussain is said to have been affiliated with Al-Qaida and Daesh and was wanted by the law enforcement agencies for his involvement in the Safura carnage which left 46 dead including 16 women. Hussain is said to have been involved in the murders of two policemen killed in Hyderabad in 2014. He is also said to have been involved in the 2014 bank robbery in Hyderabad when Rs. 1.9 million was looted besides multiple cases of extortion and armed robberies.

Muhammed Sulaiman is said to have been closely affiliated with Al-Qaida and had close relations with Taliban terrorists. It is said Sualaiman would personally control terrorist training operations. Sulaiman is also said to behind multiple attacks on policemen in Karachi as well as the hand-grenade attack at an Imambargah near Aisha Manzil in 2014. According to the Pakistan Rangers Sindh Sulaiman was also part of the 2014 Hyderabad bank robbery and multiple extortion cases.

The Pakistan Rangers Sindh in a statement claimed to have seized a large cache of arms, ammunition, hand-grenades and material for making IEDs from the terrorist’s hideout.
