Pakistan Navy displays its prowess at NAVDEX in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: The Pakistan Army dazzled and the Navy displayed its prowess at the NAVDEX, the naval, defence and maritime security section of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2017), held in Abu Dhabi.

Two of Pakistan’s ships PNS Azmat and PMSS HINGOL shone side by side with UAE and UK naval ships in the main menu of the NAVDEX. The patrol craft PMSS HINGOL, which is part of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), made its debut at NAVDEX 2017 in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted a reception at a ship as part of a goodwill gesture to strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates. Diplomats and defence attachés of various countries as well as UAE naval officers were warmly welcomed at the reception. Tareq Khalfan Abdullah Al Zaabi, Commandant Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Naval College Brigadier (Staff) (Navy), was the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Captain Khalid Pervez, Commander 10th Patrol Craft Squadron and Commander of Pakistan Navy, said that the conference would further strengthen friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.

He also said that it will improve mutual cooperation between the armed forces personnel of the two countries.

Captain Pervez also talked about the country’s “resolve against maritime terrorism, piracy and other omni-present asymmetric threats to global terrorism”.

He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan Navy’s commitment to promote peace in maritime domain. 

While speaking to The News International, Defence Attaché of Pakistan in the UAE, Air Commodore Mohammad Akhtar proudly said that the prime and supreme positioning of Pakistan Navy ships during NAVDEX revealed the exemplary relations of the two brotherly nations.

The evening started with the national anthems of the UAE and Pakistan, respectively. Chief Guest Khalfan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Material) Rear Admiral Imtiaz Ahmed cut the cake at conclusion of the event.
