ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday extended deployment of Pakistan Army troops in Islamabad for another 90 days, according to notification.

On February 21, the chief commissioner Islamabad had requested the government to extend the term of deployment.

The Ministry of Interior today issued a notification extending stay of 350 troops in Islamabad, to aid civil administration in enforcement of the law.

These troops were first deployed in the federal capital ahead of 2014 sit-ins, under article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The term for deployment of troops has since been extended.
