Spot-fixing: FIA gets Sharjeel, Khalid’s mobile phone data

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case took another turn on Saturday when sources revealed to Geo News that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has received mobile phone data of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif.

According to details, FIA will conduct a forensic evaluation of the mobile phones of both cricketers. Through the forensic evaluation, investigators will be able to retrieve deleted data from the handsets, sources claim.

Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were formally charged by the PCB last month under the anti-corruption code.

They were both suspended by the PCB after an initial inquiry into an alleged attempt by an international syndicate to corrupt the PSL.

Both men have denied all charges framed against them by the PCB except one allegation. In response to the charge sheet, the two cricketers only admitted to a disciplinary violation and not spot fixing.

PCB chairman Sharjeel Khan stated that both cricketers had admitted having met a bookie in their official statement.

Appearing before a Senate Standing Committee, Shahryar Khan said Sharjeel and Khalid along with Mohammad Irfan met a bookie named Yousuf during the PSL and did not inform the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) as per rules.
