Muslim detective sues Metropolitan Police over ‘racism’, ‘sexism’

An Asian detective, who was awarded an honour by the Queen, has sued the Metropolitan police over claims of racism and sexism.
Detective Constable Nighat Hubbard claimed that she has been held from working on complicated cases by the department many times. She also claimed that she was a victim of sexism while serving in the force, according to The Sunday Times.
She claimed that her male colleagues made derogatory and discriminatory comments to her and other female officers from 2013 to 2014, the paper reported.
Replying to the charges, Scotland Yard said: "We are aware of an employment tribunal claim brought by Detective Constable Nighat Hubbard against the Metropolitan Police Service alleging race and sex discrimination. We are unable to discuss further while proceedings are ongoing."
She was presented with an MBE, which commonly refers to Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in 2014 for her humanitarian work. She is reported to be the first Muslim female police officer to be honoured by the Queen.
