DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police, FC and Pakistan Army personnel were summoned to control a clash between students at the Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday.

According to sources, students belonging to the Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) had planned on holding a talent show at the Gomal University. However a day earlier IJT students had clashed with Pakhtoon students in Punjab University where the latter were holding a cultural event.

In light of Wednesday's events and a protest by Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF) the varsity rescinded the permission given to IJT students for their talent show. However ignoring the the varsity's instructions, the IJT students went ahead with their planned event.

As a precautionary measure, the varsity summoned Police, FC and the Pakistan Army on campus to maintain law and order. Even with the presence of law enforcers on campus, PSF students continued to disrupt the talent show and eventually, the police resorted to baton charging the students to disperse them.

The clashed between IJT and PSF students a day earlier at the Punjab university left 18 students injured.
