Two blasts damage rail track in Sindh, briefly delay trains

ROHRI: Two blasts on Wednesday damaged railway track near Sukkur and Mehrabpur areas in Sindh, officials said, resulting in brief delays in movement of trains.

The first blast took place on the up track, some 2 kilometers away from Rohri railway station, said Malik Ateeq, SP Railway Police. It damaged railway track due to which the authorities stopped Shalimar Express.

The train, however, resumed its journey after restoration of the track.

The second blast took place near Mehrabpur railway station, shortly after Rawalpindi-bound Pakistan Express passed from there. Police said it was remote-controlled blast, which cracked the track.

The restoration of track near Mehrabpur is still underway, while trains are being allowed to gradually pass through the down track.
