Women attempting to smuggle money arrested at Karachi airport

KARACHI: Custom authorities on Friday arrested two women from Karachi airport for attempting to smuggle currency worth over 5 million, including Saudi riyals, UAE dirhams and Japanese yen.

The women were travelling to Dubai from Karachi in an Emirates flight and had hidden the currency inside their clothes.

According to Pakistan Customs spokesperson, the authority recovered 1,20,500 Saudi riyals, 50,000 UAE dirhams and 0.5 million Japanese yen from the two.

The women have been remanded into custody for three days and investigation into the matter is under way, the spokesperson added.
