Wife stopped from leaving Indian HC, claims Pakistani husband

ISLAMABAD: An Indian woman was stopped by the Indian High Commission from leaving the office premises after she visited along with her husband to apply for his visa, the husband said.

Uzma, who belongs to New Delhi, and Tahir met and fell in love with each other in Malaysia, after which she travelled to Pakistan on May 1 via the Wagah border. The two contracted nikkah on May 3.

According to Tahir, the two visited the high commission building and submitted forms as well as their phones to the officials. Uzma then went inside on being called by the officials while he stayed back.

When his wife did not return after several hours, Tahir, worried, enquired about her from officials, who claimed she was not there. Tahir alleged that the officials also refused to give their three mobile phones back to him.

Speaking exclusive to Geo News, husband of Uzma, Tahir Ali said that Uzma knew that he has been married before and have four children from his first wife, further adding that if Uzma doesn’t want to live with him then that’s her right which she can rightly exercise.  

 He has filed a First Information Report in the Secretariat Police Station.

On the other hand, the Indian High Commission claimed that Uzma has been staying there out of her own will.

They said that they have told her husband to visit the high commission on Monday, to meet his wife and get the visa as well.

The matter has also been taken up at the diplomatic level by Pakistan.
