Prime minister's son appeared before JIT for the third time in five days

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s son Hussain Nawaz appeared for the third time in less than a week before the Joint Investigation Team, constituted to probe into funds used by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's children to buy properties in London through offshore businesses.
Following the JIT session, Hussain Nawaz emerged out of the building after more than six hours and spoke briefly to media.
“If the matters proceed in a fair manner then it’s fine otherwise we would present the issue before the Supreme Court and public,” said Hussain.
Hussain Nawaz said that he has been summoned again by the JIT for the next session. “I was made to wait for two hours,” he said, adding whoever the JIT summons has to appear before it.
Hussain Nawaz said no evidence will be found of any irregularity against him, his father (PM Nawaz) or any sibling in the investigation.
The premier’s son said that he was interrogated in isolation, and wasn’t allowed to be accompanied by a lawyer.
Will appear as many times as called, says Hussain Nawaz
Hussain Nawaz spoke to the media after arriving at the Federal Judicial Academy, around 10 AM.
"I will appear before the JIT as many times as I am called,” he said before he appeared in front of the JIT to record his statement.
"Bogus cases were lodged against us during the [Pervez] Musharraf era as well. We are giving answers and politicians will always continue to give answers," he claimed.
He also said that his younger brother, Hassan Nawaz, who was summoned by the JIT on Wednesday but was a no-show, will be appearing before the probe body.
Strict security arrangements were in place in light of the premier's son's visit.
Prior to this, Hussain had been summoned by the JIT on May 28 and 30. The prime minister’s younger son, Hassan Nawaz, had also been summoned by the JIT on Wednesday but he failed to appear.
In his last appearance, Hussain recorded his second statement with the JIT and also provided documents. Speaking to the media afterward, he said he had provided all the documents that the JIT had asked for.
The JIT is investigating the prime minister's family’s global financial dealings in light of the Supreme Court's April 20 judgment.
The head of the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Zafar Hijazi, will be appearing before the JIT on Friday.
Sources revealed that the JIT sent notices to the SECP chief for a personal appearance to apprise the probe body as to the measures undertaken in the investigation so far.
Sources added that the SECP chief will also be bringing with him all relevant records and documents related to the Panama case.
JIT sends second letter to Qatar’s Al-Thani family
The JIT wrote a second letter to Qatar’s Al-Thani family, giving them three options to record their statements.
The first option mentioned that two members would leave for Qatar to record the statements in relation to the probe.
The second option was to send a written response to aid the investigation.
According to the third option, a statement through video link can also be shared by the Qatari family.
On Tuesday, the JIT questioned Hussain and National Bank of Pakistan President Saeed Ahmad for around four and twelve hours, respectively.
The JIT, headed by Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director Wajid Zia, includes members from SECP, State Bank of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau, Military Intelligence and Inter Services Intelligence.
