LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) confiscated more than a million rotten eggs from a factory in Lahore’s Mangal Mandi area during a raid Wednesday night.

According to PFA DG Noorul Amin Mengal, the eggs, worth Rs15 million, were seized from an eggs processing unit of a known biscuit company. The eggs were being used to prepare powder for use in biscuits.

Earlier this year, PFA wasted 800 litres of milk adulterated with toxic chemicals in Faisalabad.

PFA officials examined 40 containers of milk in Faisalabad and found it to be adulterated with formalin - a chemical used chiefly as a preservative for biological specimens - as well as urea, salt and water.

The food authority disposed of 800 litres of substandard milk and arrested two persons in connection with it.
