PM to announce development package for Karachi

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will soon announce a development package for Karachi, informed Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair said on Monday.

On a visit to the Lyari Expressway, the governor said development work on the northern track of the highway is under way, adding that “the government is working to provide quick and efficient services to the residents of Karachi.”

Earlier, officials of the Frontier Works Organisation — who are working on the project —gave a briefing to the governor on the work under way on the northern part of the track.

Talking to the media, the governor directed that the encroachments on the northern track to be removed and ordered that it should be opened for the public by October.

“Good and efficient transport facilities are a right of Karachi’s residents and they should not be deprived of them,” he added.
