ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued another notice to its representative of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), Irfan Mangi, it emerged on Monday.

The JIT has been constituted by the Supreme Court (SC) to probe businesses and financial dealings of the Sharif family.

The notice, which was issued by Deputy Chairman NAB Imitiaz Tajwar on May 31, asked the respondent to submit a reply in the next 15 days.

The notice stated that Mangi has been given the last opportunity to defend himself. The NAB’s represent in the JIT has been given the opportunity to respond in light of SC’s ruling, the notice added.

On June 17, Irfan Mangi had submitted a reply to the first show-cause notice issued by the NAB.

The JIT member, in the reply, requested NAB to keep the show-cause notice pending or withdraw it until the investigation team completes its task.

Currently, I am busy with discharging duties as a member of JIT, he added. I have investigation experience of 14 years before joining the NAB and also honoured with three gold medals over performance, he said further.

A copy of the reply was dispatched to JIT head Wajid Zia.

Earlier, Mangi, was issued a show-cause notice for ‘removal from service’ on April 25 by the NAB and astonishingly simply two days later an official who was under notice facing removal from service was recommended for inclusion in the JIT on April 27.
