SITE gun attack: Weapons match those used in Bahadurabad murder

KARACHI: Initial investigation in to the gun attack which claimed the lives of four policemen on Friday suggest that the weapons used were identical to those used in an earlier attack on policemen in the Bahadurabad area of the metropolis.

On Friday the four policemen stopped at a local eatery for Iftar in the SITE area when three assailants on motorcycles, with their faces covered with helmets, opened fire on them and fled.

Police officials have claimed that members of a banned outfit were behind the gun attack.

“As many as thirty bullet casings were found at the crime scene and we have found evidence showing that the members of proscribed organisation are responsible for this incident,” said Additional IG Karachi.

The senior police official added that the casings have been sent to a lab for forensics examination and the police is searching for the suspects.

According to reports, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered a case and is looking for the assailants with the help of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage

The case has been registered under the anti-terrorism act.

The funeral prayers of martyred policemen were held at Garden Town headquarters and was attended by Inspector General Police Sindh, Director General Sindh Rangers, Provincial Minister Manzoor Wasan and other higher-ups.
