West Indies won by 19 runs against Pakistan at Leicester on DLS method.

In the rain-hit match, Pakistan scored 117 on the loss of three wickets in 24 overs, in the chase of 245 runs. Middle order batter Javeria Khan scored unbeaten 58 runs. Nahida Khan scored 40 off 82 balls before giving her wicket to Anisa Mohammed.

Pakistan was seeking their first win of the Women`s World Cup 2017 after five consecutive losses.

A sure-footed century by Deandra Dottin - the fastest for West Indies in Women's ODIs - and a brilliant knock of 90 runs powered the Caribbeans to put 244 runs on board.

"I would rate it 10/10. It was a massive achievement, being my first ODI century," Dottin, the Player of the Match, said. We [Me and Stafanie Taylor] had to put together a partnership and put a good total on the board. I was just taking it easy and playing each ball on merit. The target in my mind was to stay and bat full overs. After my skipper got out, I knew I had to take over. After I scored my half-century and decided to take it up a gear. I am pretty confident and looking forward to the England game."

Asmavia Iqbal took two wickets, while, Diana Baig and Nashra Sindhu bagged one wicket respectively.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first against West Indies in rainy conditions.

Windies kicked off the tournament with a 47-run win over Sri Lanka but have struggled to keep their momentum, whereas Pakistan, without any win so far, is out of this World Cup.

Pakistan, however, had defeated the Windies in a warm-up game at Leicester by chasing down 247.

Skipper Sana Mir was hopeful her team would come together to deliver today.

“We have played really good cricket in bits and pieces. It’s important we bring it into one match, and hopefully we can do it [today]. I really believe in this team. Sometimes in tournaments like these when you slip off or your form goes bad you take a couple of matches to come back. The batters are looking good in the nets today, hopefully they can deliver tomorrow,” she said in an ICC media release.

“It is a new day. Their (Windies) and our team have changed since that (warm-up) game. We are playing on a new wicket [today], and weather in England plays different role. We can’t take things for granted. We have to be smart about it and use the conditions to our advantage.”

Diana Baig, who has also represented Pakistan at football, has impressed with her opening spell/ICC

West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor looks determined to win as well.

“We know how important these games are. We definitely want to win and go home on a high. Pakistan have not won a game, so it is not going to be easy for us. Pakistan are going to come with their spinners. We saw that a bit of that (against Sri Lanka). We should counter their bowlers well,” she said.

“Pakistan has always been a fighting team. All the teams think that West Indies is the team you want to beat, so Pakistan is no different.”
