LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira criticised on Wednesday Nawaz Sharif’s repeated claims that he has been disqualified as a result of a conspiracy.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the former information minister said Nawaz also sent home an army chief, as well as a Supreme Court chief justice.

“Tell the people who has conspired against you,” he said, adding that Nawaz has termed a decision of the Supreme Court a conspiracy. He reminded Nawaz of his ‘promise’ of accepting the court verdict whatever it may be.

Kaira also came down hard on Nawaz for indulging in ‘container politics’ after crying foul about the use of containers by opposition parties earlier.

“[Asif Ali] Zardari was caught first then a reference was filed against him. You are lucky as that as is not happening with you,” he argued.

The PPP leader from Punjab also condemned the ‘wonder’ expressed by the Sharif family and government over the Supreme Court’s decision. “You should listen to how your lawyers defended your case,” he said, explaining that they had no answer when asked where all the money had came from.

Kaira also lashed out at the provision of security to Nawaz, saying a disqualified person cannot hold any position in a political party.

He claimed the ‘low turnout’ at the ‘GT Road’ rally shows Nawaz's diminishing popularity.
