KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar said on Friday that it was very suspicious to see the boycott of its multi-party conference by all mainstream political parties at the eleventh hour.

Speaking outside an anti-terrorism court, Sattar said his party had called the all parties conference with good intent.

“It was very surprising to face the boycott by all political parties. People of Sindh will reject these parties in 2018 polls,” the MQM-P leader said. “Everyone welcomed us when we gave the invitation and accepted our invitation but then we came to know about their boycotts through news channels,” he complained.

Responding to a question, Sattar said that until a transparent tax system comes in place, the country will continue to get flawed parliaments. The situation of the country will not improve after the disqualification of a prime minister, he added.

“How many parliaments will you dismiss, how many prime ministers can you disqualify,” he said, adding that “the country will not change until a transparent tax system comes in place.”

The MQM-P leader announced that the party’s rabita committee (consultative body) has decided to not collect sacrificial animal hides this year.
