Journalist Ahmad Noorani's health is improving, confirms brother

ISLAMABAD: The health of senior journalist of The News Ahmad Noorani, who was attacked by unidentified men on Friday, is steadily improving, the journalist's brother told Geo News on Saturday.

The journalist is currently admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad.

The doctors are deliberating whether or not to conduct a third CT scan of the patient. Doctors have advised Noorani to rest completely.

Noorani was assaulted on Khayabane Suharwardy road on Friday.

According to details, Noorani's car was stopped by three men travelling on a motorcycle near Zero Point Interchange while he was on his way home in Islamabad from Rawalpindi.

The three men got down from their unmarked motorcycle after chasing down Noorani's car while another three, who were standing where the car was stopped with another unmarked motorcycle, joined in and severely beat up Noorani and his driver with iron rods after throwing out the keys from the ignition.

Police have registered a case over the incident and the investigation is underway.

An investigation committee, formed upon on the orders of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, will present its detailed report of the incident within three days.

Cheif commissioner and inspector general Islamabad are a part of the committee.
