MULTAN: The parents of slain social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch have blamed Mufti Qavi for their daughter's murder.

Talking to the media before appearing in court on Monday, they said Qavi is responsible for the murder of their daughter and called for him to be punished.

As the hearing into the 2016 murder case went under way, police brought Qavi to the court to seek an extension in his physical remand.

The police said they need to probe Qavi further and sought his remand for three more days. The cleric has been in physical remand of the police for 11 days now after being arrested following his bail cancellation.

After reserving the decision, the court allowed a two-day extension in his remand.

The police also informed Judicial Magistrate Pervez Khan that they have received Qavi's polygraph test from the Punjab Science and Forensic Agency, Lahore.

They also informed the court that the statements of Qandeel's parents have been recorded.

Earlier, police produced the main suspects — Qandeel's brother Waseem and his associate Haq Nawaz — in court where they said they cannot submit the interim charge-sheet in court as the investigation against Qavi is yet to be completed.
