Bangladeshi duo posts Pashtu tweets to connect with Zalmi fans

KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi has opted for a unique way to connect with fans to keep the Pakistan Super League hype high ahead of the third edition of the T20 league.

After Darren Sammy and Chris Jordan were applauded by fans, the Bangladeshi duo of the team also opted to tweet in Pashtu, promising for winning another PSL title.

The current T20I captain Shakib Al Hassan congratulated Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, by posting a tweet in Pashtu.

“Der Zyat mu ombarak sha da new picks @JAfridi10 , ao tolo Zalmi's ta ! Bas Der khwand ai oko ao mung ba bya da Cup gatoo InshaAllah. Ao Pekhawar la ba zaroor darzam ! Khushala Osay.”

His tweet translated as: “Heartfelt congratulations to you (Javed Afridi) and Zalmi fans on new picks. I enjoyed the previous season with Zalmi and we’ll win the trophy again. I will be coming over to Peshawar soon.”

Another Bangladeshi player, Tamim Iqbal, promised that he’ll not let his fans down with his performance in Pakistan Super League.

“Dera Dera Manana @JAfridi10 for the pick, Za pura koshish kom che da fans pa mayar pura um ka khair wi InshaAllah ! Bas staso Zalmi's duaganay che wi no Zalmi be bya Gati InshaAllah,” Tamim tweeted.

Tamim’s tweet meant: “Thanks to Javed Afridi for the pick. I will try my best to perform according to fans’ expectations and if fans would pray for us then In sha Allah we will, once again win the cup.”

This is not the first time that Zalmi players have opted to post tweets in Pashtu, the regional language of Peshawar, the city franchise represents.
