LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will receive her third chemotherapy treatment next week, sources told Geo News

She is undergoing chemotherapy in London after being diagnosed with lymphoma — a cancer of the lymph nodes.

Kulsoom's health has improved after the second chemotherapy treatment, sources say, and she is being regularly treated at home.

She has so far had three surgeries as part of her throat cancer treatment in London.

Nawaz had arrived in the federal capital on November 2 from London.

A five-member team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), headed by deputy director Mehboob Ahmed, met Nawaz in the presence of his lawyers at the Punjab House where he signed the three court summons while Minister of State for CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhry signed the bail bond on Nawaz's behalf.

On November 8, the accountability court hearing corruption cases against Sharif and his family dismissed the former prime minister's plea seeking the clubbing of three references into one.

Judge Mohammad Bashir announced his decision in a short verbal order.

The judge had earlier reserved the decision on the plea, which had previously been rejected by him but was re-heard on the order of the Islamabad High Court.

Nawaz and his family are facing three corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court's judgment in the Panama Papers case. Nawaz and his two sons, Hussain and Hasan, are nominated in all three references whereas his daughter Maryam and her husband are only accused in one.
