PESHAWAR: The yellow and orange coloured Wall of Kindness in Peshawar's Hayatabad bears a forlorn look, as it waits for rekindling of the spirit of kindness.

Many vehicles and commuters pass the wall daily but it remains empty, much to the disappointment of the underprivileged.

The initiative for the Wall of Kindness was taken about a year-and-a-half ago with the aim to provide homeless and needy with clothes.

The project, which was executed by children from different schools, succeeded in spreading smiles and helping those in need.

However, with time few and few people have been kind enough to share clothes with others.

A man, donning a shalwar kameez and suit jacket, shared with Geo News that he got the clothes he is wearing from the wall.

"After the wall was painted, people used to bring clothes as long as students who started the project were present."

However, since the students left the process has come to a halt, he added.

Along with the wall, a fridge was also placed in the city. The students used to store the fridge with chips, fruits and fresh juices, and water for the labourers.

The projects were started with the hopes of helping people however with time lack of attention is being paid to them. As a result, the spirit of altruism seems to be disappearing.
