ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) have entered into an alliance for the General Elections 2018, the JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq announced Monday.

The two parties held a meeting at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, on Sunday. It has been learnt that the meeting had PTI chairman Imran Khan, JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq, KP CM Pervez Khattak, KP Information Minister Shah Farman, Maulana Hamidul Haq and Maulana Yousuf Shah in presence.

The two sides agreed to formulate a joint strategy for the next general elections in the country.

In a statement issued Monday, the KP government said party leaders at the meeting decided in principle to "struggle jointly" for ridding the country of difficulties and problems, it is facing at present.

It said the two sides agreed to devise a "mutual strategy" in this regard.

Confirming the development, Maulana Samiul Haq said PTI and JUI-S are yet to finalise details of the electoral alliance.

Speaking to Geo News, he said the coalition would benefit the PTI in 2018 elections.

Commenting on recently restored Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), Haq said the MMA is apparently an alliance of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
