Qatari royal holds separate meetings with Nawaz, Shehbaz

LAHORE: Former heir apparent Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani reached Lahore on Wednesday to meet Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Qatari royal arrived in Pakistan with a 13-member delegation in a special plane. The Qatari dignitaries were first taken to Nawaz's residence with full government protocol.

According to sources, the lunch meeting between Sheikh Jassim and Nawaz included discussions on matters of mutual interest and business deals.

The Qatari royal then met Shehbaz at his Model Town residence, after which he departed for Karachi. 

The two reportedly discussed bilateral ties and LNG projects in Punjab. 

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated unit one of a coal-based power plant at Port Qasim. Sheikh Jassim was attending the ceremony.  

The 1320-MW plant has been developed with the help of China and Qatar, according to Radio Pakistan

Former chairman of the Ehtesab Bureau and Sharif family's close aide Saifur Rehman Khan came along with Sheikh Jassim.

The two jointly own a Doha-based company titled Redco International, which is described as a "leading industrial manufacturing and contracting group operating in Qatar since 1982".
