KARACHI: Kamran Tessori — the deputy convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) — said Sunday every party has "difference of opinions", referring to reports of his and peer Ali Raza's reservations with the party.

Speaking at a press conference here in the city, he said sometimes, "we get associated with London [MQM-London]" and at different times, we are grouped with "others".

"The character assassination of Ali Raza and myself is being done as part of a conspiracy," he said

Tessori warned of parting ways with the party should it change since he and Ali Raza "don’t desire any change in the MQM-P that I had joined".

He said he and Ali Raza would put forward their reservations to senior party leader Farooq Sattar for consideration when he returns from Hyderabad.

Tessori added they "will announce a plan of action for the future should discussion over reservations ends futilely".

He expressed his gratitude for Ali Raza for being present during his press conference.

The party leader also underscored that he doesn't believe in bringing mothers into politics.

"Farooq Sattar's mother is very respectable to me," he said, adding that she and Sattar's sister are like his own mother and sister.

But "this is not some Ammi 2 episode". Ammi means mother in Urdu.

Earlier today, it was reported that Tessori had distanced himself from the party after differences between him and MQM-P had emerged.

A disgruntled Tessori had told Geo News he was "sitting at home due to the differences" within the party, stating that he would address a press conference later in the day.

Sources, on the other hand, informed Geo News that the party leader had also excused himself from participating in the MQM-P rallies in interior Sindh.

Tessori 'very decent person'

Before Tessori's press conference, Sattar's mother also addressed the media.

Calling him a "very decent person", she said, "Kamran Tessori is like my son. He will never part ways with us."

"Kamran has never spoken ill of anyone."

She went on to say anyone who desires to leave the party can do so, but Kamran "will never go". Sattar's mother said the same about Ali Raza as well.

"Ali Raza will also stay with us."

Sattar's mother explained that the party leaders desire and work for progress in Pakistan.
