Bibliophiles’ paradise: Five-day international book fair commences in Karachi

KARACHI: One of the largest books fair in Pakistan, Karachi International Book Fair, opened to public in Karachi’s Expo Centre on Thursday.

The 13th Karachi International Book Fair features books and other reading material of more than 250 publishers across Pakistan, as well as 15 international publishers from Turkey, Singapore, Britain and India.

The event will continue till December 11 from 9AM to 9PM at the Expo Centre.

While speaking at the opening ceremony, Owais Mirza Jameel, convener of the book fair, said that even though technology has made the access to books and reading material a lot easier. “However, there are still many people who enjoy holding a book in their hand and then reading it.”

“Books in physical form are still quite popular among the readers,” he said, adding that this is the reason why the book fair is organised every year.

The cultural event provides an opportunity to bibliophiles to interact with authors, and renowned publishers in the country.
