LAHORE: Three labourers were killed, another three injured after they were electrocuted in Lahore’s Sunder area, Geo News reported Monday.

The rescue sources informed that the labourers were working in an under-construction building when the 22-feet long iron rod, they were carrying, came into contact with live power wires overhead, resulting in electrocution of all six labourers.

The under-construction building is located on Multan Road.

The injured labourers, identified as Shaan, Tariq and Razzaq, were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment, where they are said to be in a critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Mehboob, Qaiser and Shakeel.

On Sunday, three labourers were electrocuted while installing a signboard in Defence Phase 8. The victims were identified as Fakhar, Wali Mohammad and Mohammad Khan.

It was reported that four labourers climbed up an electricity pole to install a signboard and came into contact with electric wires. As a result three of them died on the spot and one sustained burns.

The injured labourer was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was said to be critical.

On November 25, 2011, six labourers died of electric shock in Lahore after the crane they were working on came in contact with the live power wires overhead.

The tragedy unfolded in Lahore's Shadab Colony area where a crane was trying to lift heavy objects to be carried away with some workmen on it.

Eyewitnesses say crane’s jib ran into high-tension wires and the electric current killed the poor menial workers before they could know.

Details have it that three other fortunate daily wagers who survived electrocution have received serious burns coupled with trauma.

The dead bodies have been shifted to the hospital morgue whereas the injured are being treated in the emergency ward.
