LAHORE: Police on Monday recovered the newborn child abducted from Lahore’s Services Hospital nine-days earlier. The infant was recovered from Raiwind.

After an investigation, relying on technical data, police nabbed the gang of five including three women, safely recovering the infant who had been abducted from the hospital by a woman posing as a doctor.

The baby girl had gone missing on the morning of December 8 as she was being shifted to the hospital nursery.

As most of the CCTV cameras in the hospital were out of order police only had footage of the woman dressed as a doctor taking custody of the child. Thereafter, the police relied on other sources of information including technical assistance. It was confirmed that the baby had been taken away in a Rickshaw, which is the lead the police focused on.

Police claim to have employed geo-tagging to locate the rickshaw and recover the child.

The accused woman told police that her friend had given birth to a stillborn child; due to her love for her friend she abducted the newborn from Service Hospital.

Police identified the accused as Kiran, Shazia, Irum, Muzzamil and Shaukat.

An air of relief and happiness filled the air when the newborn was reunited with her parents who showered praise and gratitude on the police officials for recovering their child.
