18 detained in combing operation in Karachi's Orangi Town

KARACHI: At least 18 suspects were taken into custody late Saturday night following a combing operation carried out by police in Orangi Town's Tori Bangash and Faqeer Colony locales, Abid Baloch — the area's Superintendent of Police (SP) — said.

Baloch added that the operation — during which the entry and exit points to Faqeer Colony were sealed off — was conducted under the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for Orangi.

Two pistols were also recovered following the combing operation, the police official noted.

On the other hand, an alleged street criminal was taken into custody late night following a search operation conducted in the Saudabad locale of the metropolis' Malir area, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) said.

The detained suspect was identified as Abdul Sattar, security officials stated, adding that weapons, mobile phones, and cash were recovered from him.

Two wounded in firing

At least two people were injured in separate firing incidents Saturday night here, near Allahwala Town in Korangi Industrial Area and Kaala Pul, respectively, authorities said.

Both firing incidents occurred over resistance during robbery attempts, authorities added.

Dacoity in North Nazimabad

Four armed dacoits entered and looted late night a restaurant located in Block 'N' of the city's North Nazimabad area, sources said.

The restaurant's patrons included families, the sources added.

Police, on the other hand, stated that the robbers had fled with phones, cash, and other valuables.

Police operation in Lahore

One suspect was detained in a wounded state during an alleged police encounter Saturday night in Lahore's Wahdat Colony, authorities said.

The arrestee was identified as Owais, alias Waki, police said, adding that weapons were recovered from his possession.
