PM's friend Sahibzada Jahangir 'withdraws' as special assistant on foreign investments

Sahibzada Amir Jahangir, a close aide of Prime Minister Imran Khan who was recently appointed Special Assistant on Foreign Investments, has withdrawn from the assignment.

Citing “fake allegations and media propaganda” against his character as the reason for his withdrawal, Jahangir tweeted: “I am honoured for PM PAK trust in me as SAPM for Foreign Investments. It is honorary assignment. I would take no salary or benefits. However, in view of fake allegations & media propaganda to malign my character & dignity, it will effect my performance..

“..To work to attract foreign investments. I cannot permit any controversy & or problems for my Prime Minister, therefore I have decided to voluntarily withdraw from the assignment. Though in my private capacity I will continue to bring foreign investments to Pak,” he shared.

Jahangir was appointed Special Assistant on Foreign Investments in a notification issued by the cabinet division on October 15. According to the notification, his term had begun from October 11.

He has been serving as PTI’s senior advisor to Chairman Imran Khan on Foreign Trade, Investment and Development from Europe in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He is also head of PTI UK and Europe chapters.
