Kashmiris observe Black Day to mark illegal Indian occupation

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the world over are observing Black Day today (Saturday) to mark the illegal occupation of the valley by Indian forces.
On October 27th, 1947 Indian troops invaded Kashmir and occupied the region, a violation of the Partition Plan of the subcontinent.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the day is being marked with a complete shutdown and rallies in world capitals.
Call for the shutdown was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organisations. The resistance leaders have termed October 27th as the darkest day in their history.
President, PM reiterate support to Kashmiri cause
President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan in their messages on the occasion reiterated unflinching diplomatic and political support for the cause of the Kashmiri people.
President Alvi said, “We pay homage to the sacrifices of our brethren in Indian occupied Kashmir and reiterate our unflinching and steadfast moral, diplomatic and political support.”
“This support will continue till the realisation of their [Kashmiris] lawful right to self-determination,” he added.
PM Imran in his message said, “Pakistan will not relent in its moral, political and diplomatic support until the Kashmiris realise their legitimate right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.”
The premier called for immediate implementation of the recommendation to set up a UN Commission of Inquiry to investigate human rights abuses by Indian forces in the valley.
