"The hospital has been cleared," Medina Police Department (Ohio) said on Facebook. "No suspect located and no witnesses or evidence to substantiate the initial complaint of a female with a firearm."

"Medina Police have given the all clear at Medina Hospital and Medical Office Building. They are no longer on lockdown. All patients, visitors and employees are safe," Cleveland Clinic said on Twitter.

An hour ago, the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital was reportedly on a lockdown when reports of a "potential active shooter" surfaced, according to international media, prompting officers of Medina Police to rush to the scene.

"Police are on scene at Medina Hospital responding to a potential active shooter situation in the medical office building. Both the hospital and office building are on lockdown," Cleveland Clinic wrote earlier.

"We advise no one travel to the Medina campus. We will continue to share updates," it had added.

The initial reports had claimed that a woman, armed with a gun, was threatening people in the hospital.

Police were "searching a hospital after receiving reports about a woman with a gun threatening people", Time had said at the time, adding that "no shots have been fired".

The area was accordingly cordoned off by authorities then but was cleared after reports turned out to be false.
