Chilly winds to grip Karachi from today

KARACHI: Chilly winds will grip the city from today (Thursday), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

“Karachi is likely to experience chilly Quetta winds from this evening,” PM director Abdul Rasheed said.

“The Quetta winds may reach to 20-25kmph," he added. The effects of the winds in Karachi will start from Thursday evening and will increase gradually.

The winds will turn the weather chilly and day temperatures may fall to 22C-24C whereas night temperatures are likely to fall to 9C-12C.

Stating that the weather will remain dry and dusty over this period, the PMD director said, "There is no chance of rainfall."

Further, according to PMD, the weather will be dry and extremely cold in the northern areas over the next 24 hours. Weather in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore will also be dry and cold.

Snowfall has stopped in Murree, Gilgit Baltistan and other areas but they continue to be gripped by extremely cold weather and the increase in price of firewood and gas cylinders has made life difficult for the residents.

On Wednesday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Kalam at -9C.
