KARACHI: Karachi police on Thursday launched a crackdown against school vans fitted with CNG and LPG cylinders.

The crackdown comes after eight children suffered burns as their school van caught fire near the metropolis’ Orangi Town area on January 5. Fourteen children were en route to their school located in Nazimabad when the van caught fire near Qatar Hospital in Orangi Town.

In response to the police's crackdown, school van drivers and owners are staging a protest demanding that the school vans be allowed to be fitted with CNG.
