Darren Sammy will be in Pakistan next month for Zalmi kit launch

KARACHI: Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy will arrive in Pakistan next month to participate in a pre-tournament event for Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi.

One of the most exciting signings of PSL, Sammy who has visited Pakistan twice to participate in the tournament, will visit Peshawar — the hometown of Zalmi — for the first time.

“Peshawar Zalmi's captain and Pakistan's most loved foreign player, Darren Sammy, will be travelling to Pakistan to attend the kit and anthem launch ceremony,” Zalmi owner Javed Afridi said.

“Our efforts and hard work have finally paid off as Peshawar Zalmi returns home,” he added.

According to a statement, the kit and anthem launch of the franchise will be held on February 4 at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House.

"PeshawarZalmi Kit and anthem launch ceremony is open for families. Come and meet your favourite cricketers including captain Darren Sammy," Afridi wrote on Twitter.

Other key figures of Peshawar Zalmi, including the franchise’s president Zaheer Abbas and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, will also attend the event.

The PSL's fourth edition kicks off in the United Arab Emirates on February 14.
