KARACHI: Islamabad United’s batsman Phil Salt has said that he is excited to be in Pakistan and that he had been waiting for ages to play in the country.

Speaking to Geo News on the sidelines during United’s practice session at Karachi’s National Stadium, the Sussex batsman said, he is loving the support all the players are getting in Karachi.

“I am really really excited, not just myself but the whole squad has been looking forward to coming here and now we are finally here and are seeing all the fans and the support. I am absolutely loving it,” the 22-year old cricketer said.

Islamabad arrived in Karachi on Thursday night where they were received by the local administration in a traditional manner.

Salt said that it was a very warm reception and everyone was happy about it.

“It was very warm welcome last night. Thanks to everyone for that. We have been waiting to come here. It feels to be as good to be here. Everyone is really happy,” he added.

Responding to a question, Salt said he is already in love with Pakistani food and had some as soon as he arrived in Pakistan. “Last night I had desi food and Rummi’s [Ruman Raees] parents brought food for the 30,” he shared.

Now settled down and back to business, Salt has his eyes set on making United win in PSL as the Pakistan leg of the tournament kicks off with United’s game against Lahore Qalandars on Saturday.

“I have been looking forward to this stage for ages. I just want to do well and keep performing for the team,” he said responding to a question,

“It is going to be a big game for us against Lahore. If I can contribute to winning that, play a match-winning knock or do something special in turning the momentum in the game… that’s what I want to do. I am looking forward to the next game and hopefully, I can put really good performance,” he said.
