FATA’s merger with KP won’t change norms, but usher in new era of progress: PM


MOHMAND: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that the merger of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not change the norms of the tribal people but usher in a new era of progress.

The PM arrived at the headquarters in Mohmand, where he inaugurated health card scheme.

A high-level session was chaired by the PM and where he was briefed about the administrative and security issues related to the merger.

In the session, administrative, public, welfare and development projects were discussed.

In his address after the meeting, the PM said that the legal framework in the tribal areas is of crucial importance and the projects will be kept free from corruption.

“The indiscriminate and fair distribution of funds should be ensured,” said the prime minister.

“Only thieves, not democracy in danger”

PM Imran said that not democracy but those who laundered money are in danger, in a reference to ongoing action by the National Accountability Bureau against some people.

The PM was addressing a gathering in Bajaur today.

He said that there will be no reconciliation will be those who looted the public’s money. “Can talk to Indian PM Narendra Modi for the sake of the country… Will have no reconciliation or deal with those who laundered money.”

On the subject of recent tenions with India, PM Imran said that 30 days before elections in the neighboring country, Pakistan has to be on alert.

"Three percent from NFC award to be spent on tribal districts"

PM Imran khan said that the three percent from the National Finance Commission Award will be spent on the tribal areas.

He said that Levies and Khasadar forces will not be unemployed and they will be merged into the police force.

In Bajaur, 300 moqsues will be equipped with solar system, said the PM, adding that 8,000 people will be given employment.
