SHEIKHUPURA: A fake faith-healer (pir) was arrested Wednesday night from the Ludhe Kay neighbourhood of the city for allegedly raping a woman under the pretext of freeing her from a "magical spell", authorities said, adding that a first information report (FIR) has been filed in this regard.

According to the FIR filed in the Narang Mandi police station, the survivor of sexual assault had gone to Afzal, the alleged rapist, to have him cast away the "magical spell" she was under and to request him to pray on her (dam).

However, Afzal, the alleged rapist, locked her in the room, saying he was doing so to help rid her of the "magical spell" and then raped her.

The woman — a resident of Munnooabad, Muridke — was accompanied by her maternal aunt.
