KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) on Saturday carried out an operation near a toll plaza at the Super Highway — alternatively known as the M9 motorway — and recovered many litres worth of "substandard milk" being brought into the metropolis.

According to the officials, the raid was conducted to inspect the supply vans coming into Karachi from towns in Sindh and analyse the quality of the milk.

In order to speed up the process, a mini mobile laboratory was also set up to conduct the tests on the spot. The milk that passed the test was let go, the rest was wasted.

An SFA official further said they have initiated a campaign to filter out all substandard milk coming into the metropolis and that such raids would be conducted at all entrance points of the city.

Speaking of the operation, SFA Deputy Director Imtiaz Ali said his team "seized many litres worth of substandard milk".
