There was a major reshuffle in the federal cabinet with Prime Minister Imran Khan making changes in several ministries including finance, information and interior.

Asad Umar stepped down as finance minister with Abdul Hafeez Sheikh to take up his responsibilities. Fawad Chaudhry was shifted to the ministry of science and technology while Firdous Ashiq Awan was made special assistant on information.

Shehryar Afridi who till this point was serving as the Minister of State for Interior was handed the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions. Brigadier (retd) Ijaz Ahmed Shah was picked as Afridi’s replacement and appointed interior minister.

With a major reshuffle in his federal cabinet, Prime Minister Imran Khan might not be done yet.

Addressing a rally in Orakzai, the prime minister sent out a message to the chief ministers of Punjab Usman Buzdar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan.

“A good captain is always looking towards his team to win and is constantly monitoring his team. To win the match he needs to change the batting order or needs to remove and add players. I have changed the batting order and made replacements in my time and will do so in the future as well” was the prime minister’s message.

“I want to tell my ministers that if they do not perform for my country, I will change them,” Prime Minister Khan added.
