PM Imran to embark on maiden visit to Iran tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a two-day official visit to Iran from Sunday to further strengthen bilateral ties in diverse fields, the Foreign Office said on Saturday.

The premier will visit the country from April 21-22 on the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. This will be the premier's first visit to Iran since assuming office.

During the visit, PM Imran will call on Iranian Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei and will also detailed consultations with President Rouhani.

PM Imran will also meet members of the Iranian and Pakistani business community in Iran.

A high-level delegation accompany the prime minister, FO said.

Pakistan’s relations with Iran are marked by close historic and cultural linkages and strong people to people exchanges. Both countries are also members of the Economic Cooperation Organization and Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it added.
