Intelligence agencies arrest three terrorists allegedly involved in Lahore blast

LAHORE: Three alleged terrorists were arrested during an operation carried out late Wednesday night here in the metropolis' Bhati Gate area, intelligence agencies' sources said.

According to the intelligence sources, the three arrested alleged terrorists also include a woman facilitator. All three shifted were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning as the probe continues, they added.

The three are suspected to be involved in the May 8 blast outside the Data Darbar shrine which had claimed the lives of 12 people and left at least 25 others wounded.

Five police officials, a security guard and civilians were among those martyred in the attack that which targetted a police van stationed outside the entrance of Data Darbar

The martyred police officers were identified as Head Constable Shahid Nazir, Head Constable Muhammad Sohail, Head Constable Gulzar Ahmad, and Constable Muhammad Saleem.

Last week, security forces had arrested five suspected facilitators from Garhi Shahu area after a raid on tea stall. While another suspected facilitator was arrested from Gujranwala two days later. 

Police had also released an image of the alleged suicide attacker was released by the police. The image showed the attacker next to the right side of the Elite Force police van and 8:54am. He is facing the main gate of Data Darbar and is wearing a shalwar kameez while carrying a bag.

According to Shahbaz Gill, spokesperson for Punjab chief minister, the suicide bomber was 15-years-old. He had exited a shop selling fruits before making his way to the Elite Force van.
