RAWALPINDI: Director-General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said Sunday the innocent supporters and workers of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) needed care.

In an update on Twitter regarding the NWTD incident, Pakistan Army spokesperson Maj Gen Ghafoor wrote: "Only few are inciting and using them against state institutions for vested agenda.

"No one will be allowed to undo the gains of decades long national struggle & sacrifices especially of brave Pakistani tribals,” he added in his message on the social media website.

The DG ISPR’s tweet comes after a clash between the security forces and the PTM protesters in North Waziristan. As per the military's media wing: "A group led by Mohsin Javed and Ali Wazir, assaulted Kharqamar check post, Boyya, North Waziristan tribal district this morning."

"They wanted to exert pressure for the release of suspected terrorists’ facilitator arrested the other day. Troops at the check post exercised maximum restraint in the face of provocation and direct firing on the post," the ISPR said.

Ali Wazir is a member of the National Assembly (MNA).

It added that five soldiers were injured due to the firing of the group and that "3 individuals who attacked the post lost their lives and 10 got injured".

"All injured evacuated to Army Hospital for treatment," it added.

The ISPR further noted that MNA Ali Wazir along with eight others were arrested while Mohsin Javed is "at large after inciting the crowd".
