The world's 15 hottest places right now are all in Pakistan and India

KARACHI: Of the 15 hottest places in the world in the past 24 hours, four were in Pakistan with all the others in neighboring India, according to weather monitoring website El Dorado on Monday.

The hottest place in the world in the past 24 hours was Jacobabad in southern Sindh province, recording temperatures touching a high of 50 degrees Celsius.

It was followed by the Indian cities of Churu, in the west of the northern state of Rajasthan, and Ganganagar recording maximum temperatures of 49.8°C and 48.6°C respectively.

On number four and five were the Pakistani areas of Padidan in southern Sindh province and Sibi in Balochistan, each recording maximum temperatures of 48.5°C and 48.3°C respectively, according to El Dorado.

The Pakistani town of Rohri in Sindh's Sukkur district was at number 8, with maximum temperatures of 48°C.

Pakistan's Meteorological Department on Monday forecasted mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country, while very hot in eastern Balochistan, Sindh and central and southern Punjab.

It forecasted similar weather for Tuesday as residents major cities of Sindh and Balochistan provinces braced for another severe heatwave.

The Meteorological Department in neighbouring India has also warned of severe heat in northern and central areas on Monday, following similar extreme weather the previous day.
