NOWSHERA: The bodies of a young woman and a man were found on Monday from the fields in the city's Amankot area, police confirmed, adding that both had been shot dead by unidentified persons.

According to police, another young man was critically injured and transferred to Peshawar for medical attention. He was identified as Waqas Shah.

The young woman was wearing bridal attire when she was shot dead and, later, found by authorities, police said but did not add any description about the man whose body was recovered from by her side.

Police further mentioned the woman was not identified. They said both the murdered man — identified as Aqib — and the injured one, Waqas Shah, were police officers at the Peshawar Central Jail.

A first information report (FIR) against unidentified persons was registered on behalf of the deceased's father. As to who killed them and why they did so, police said the results of an investigation would reveal.
