ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, said Wednesday the "Opposition cannot force [Prime Minister} Imran Khan to back away from his mission".

Dr Awan was addressing a press conference here in the federal capital, she warned that those making empty threats could not do anything about the budget.

"Turning away from the budget is equivalent to staying aloof from the people," she said.

On being positive and working in the interest of the Pakistani people, the special assistant said the Opposition should suggest any amendments through "constitutional, parliamentary, and democratic manner, and not via thuggery.

"The Opposition is invited to present amendments for the benefit of the people and we will get them passed," Dr Awan added.
