PM Imran meets Pakistani businesspeople during first US visit

WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Imran Khan met with the Pakistani business community on Sunday during his first official visit to the United States.

Javaid Anwar, leading Pakistani American businessman, along with a group of prospective investors called on PM Imran Khan at the Pakistani embassy in Washington DC, said an official press release.

Prime Minister Imran Khan invited businessmen and investors to benefit from the economic and business opportunities afforded by Pakistan's strategic location and the connectivity to the broader region.

The press statement said that the investors appreciated improved security environment in Pakistan and identified areas of interest with regard to investment in key sectors including energy and tourism.

PM Imran arrived in Washington early on Sunday in a first-ever visit to the US. PM Imran during his three-day visit is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on July 22. According to the White House, PM Imran’s visit will focus on strengthening cooperation between the United States and Pakistan to bring peace, stability, and economic prosperity to a region that has seen far too much conflict.
